Scope
For decades, Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall have captured the hearts and imaginations of music lovers, hosting a who's who of renowned artists and musicians from around the world. Both venues play an influential role in Toronto's music scene, but stand out individually for their differing acts and audiences.
Having a shared ownership group, the Corporation of Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall sought a comprehensive brand refresh to unify the identity of both halls visually, while maintaining their individual essences.
Both refreshed brandmarks are a simplified physical representation of the unique architecture of each venue and draw on their storied histories. An edgy and roughly cut sans-serif mirrors the vigorous energy and red brickwork of Massey Hall, while an elegant and sophisticated golden serif typeface echos the classical splendour of Roy Thomson Hall.
In combination with a brand new design system, a set of brand guidelines was developed to ensure consistent use of all brand elements across various touchpoints.
